Luna Escondida’s Olive Grove: the spirit of a working ranch in a wedding venue in San Miguel de Allende

Custodied by Luna Escondida’s commanding architecture and bathed in the warm light of San Miguel de Allende, the Olive Grove rests as one of the estate’s quiet treasures. The dozens of olive trees that have grown slowly, almost imperceptibly, stand as a living reminder of one of the ranch’s guiding beliefs: what truly matters rarely rushes.
For over a decade, sunlight, crystalline well water, and fertile soil have nourished these trees from root to leaf, carrying them patiently to this moment. Today, in a gesture that feels almost reciprocal, the mature grove offers Luna its richly aromatic oil — a harvest born from time, care, and devotion.
In August 2023, faithful to their natural rhythm, the olive trees released their first fruits. More than five tons of olives were gathered during a harvest celebrated among family and friends. Using the traditional vareo method — a demanding technique that preserves the future quality of the oil — thousands of olives fell onto carefully arranged linens. Long hours unfolded as a testament to the effort, collaboration, and quiet joy shared by those who form part of this community.
Since that first harvest, the cycle continues in harmony with the grove’s natural cadence. Each year, the olives are collected, cleaned, milled, and pressed through a careful artisanal process. The result is a fragrant oil, rich in character, used in Luna Escondida’s kitchen and, on occasion, bottled to find its way into the homes of the ranch’s extended circle of friends.
Today, the Olive Grove is more than a landscape to admire — it is a living ecosystem woven into the ranch’s virtuous rhythm. Luna Escondida’s philosophy speaks of resources treated with respect, processes honored with patience, and outcomes that naturally reflect dedication. This mindset extends beyond production; it is felt in the warmth and attentiveness with which guests are welcomed to celebrate their destination weddings here.
As the years pass and careful stewardship continues, the olive trees will remain — quiet witnesses to the celebrations yet to come, and to the evolving story of Luna Escondida.
